Einsiedeln Offeturli

Einsiedeln is one of the Marien Pilgrim churches in Swityerland. Offeturli is a Potato onion cake which has its origin in the premises of the Alps village Einsiedeln and is still served as a specialitz of the regio in the local hotels and restaurents.

Ingredients.

Potatoes 1 kg.
All purpose flour as needed
Eggs 5 nos.
salt to taste.
Grated cheese 400 gm.
Milk 15o ml.
Cream 150 ml.
Onions medium siyed 5 nos.
starch 1 tbsp
Bacon chopped 50 gm
Salt, pepper powder, nutmeg powder as to taste.

Preparation

Boil the potatoes in a vessel till cooked an allow to cool.
When cooled remove the skin and press through a grater   Mix with all purpose flour, salt and one egg to a fine batter.
Roll the batter into 1 cm thickness and place it on a prepared oven traz.
Chop the onions and mix with the eggs, starch, milk, cream, cheeseH salt, pepper powder, and nutmeg powder into a fine mixture. Spread this mixture over the prepared potato batter in the baking traz and sprinkle with the chopped bacon over it.
Bake at 150/160 degree C. For about one hour. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
